FAQ (Janitorial Maintenance) |
We just had a new floor installed. Do I need to strip the floor before applying floor finish? |
No. Usually, Butcher's Hot Springs will remove the factory seal so a floor seal and finish can be applied with favorable results. |
My pet had an "accident" on our floor and now I'm having trouble ridding the odor from the room? |
We have several odor eliminators but one we would suggest for this type of odor is Butcher's Breakdown. It has an enzyme that acts as a pacman to eat and eliminate odors. |
We had sewage backup in our basement and now the carpet needs to be disinfected. |
Carpet, unfortunately, cannot be disinfected. The best one could hope to accomplish is to sanitize this type of flooring. If carpet contamination has been extensive, we would recommend replacing it. |

Do you test drinking water? |
No, we do not test drinking water. Our lab is only setup for pool and spa water. We would suggest contacting your local health department for such testing. |
My neighbor and I have a spa AND a pool. We both use the same type of systems but yet it seems like I need to shock more often than he does? |
Providing your neighbor and you are starting with the same source water, the only constant in that fact is the source water. After that, every pool and/or spa is different due to many variables associated with each individual owner. Water temperatures, size of the pool and spa, filteration, bather loads and frequency, location of the pool and/or spa, as well as existing water chemistry levels all matter when caring for any pool or spa. Don't try to compare yourself to your neighbor or your brother-in-law living in Florida. Every pool and spa has it's own "personality" based primarily on its owners lifestyle. |
Why am I constantly battling my ph? |
The first thing we look for when we hear this question are either alkalinity levels or chlorine/bromine readings. Your alkalinity controls ph. So if you maintain your alkalinity level in satisfactory range, your ph should follow. Also, when chlorine/bromine levels are high, most all other test readings will be distorted until chlorine/bromine levels have stabilized within safe ranges. |
How often should I change the water in my spa? |
We recommend changing water every three months. |
I bought a pool at a discount store and now I need a part for it. Do you carry any parts for these type of pools? |
Unfortunately, no. We would recommend going to the manufacturer's website or calling the store you purchased the pool from for more information. |
I need a part for my spa. Can you help me? |
The first thing we need to know is the make, model, and year of your spa. If your spa is a Marquis, we can surely help. Manufacturers outside of Marquis are sometimes tenious. Some manufacturers are no longer in business. Determining the availability of parts is easiest, if you know the make, model, and year of your spa. Often times, digital pictures are the best and quickest way to explain which part you are needing. Should this be the case, please send your photos to Brent. |

I'm thinking about getting a salt generator for my pool. Will I ever need to use chlorine again? |
Yes, there is a good chance you might need to use chlorine from time to time during the summer. All chlorine/salt generators are designed to keep up with a certain chlorine demand; when conditions exceed the generators capabilities, chlorine is required to help satisfy your pool's chlorine demand. You will also need to use chlorine at the beginning of the year. Unfortunately, chlorine/salt generators do not immediately take off establishing chlorine residuals for start-up. If you are interested in using a chlorine/salt generator, please see us as we carry this type of item and can help you with choosing the best plan for your pool. |
